During World War II, Jack Lund Schofield
served as a B-25H
Mitchell bomber pilot for the United States Air
Force. Lieutenant Schofield was a member of the 22nd
Bomb Squadron, 341st Bomb Group, 14th Air Force based
at Yangkai, China. As part of the14th Air Force Flying
Tigers, Lieutenant Schofield and his crew flew combat
for our Allied troops fighting in China. The Flying
Tigers were renowned for their flights and bombing
runs through enemy fire, over the Himalayan Mountains
to deliver supplies and support the ground troops
in the China-Burma-India campaign.
As an educator, Dr. Schofield taught in the Clark
County School District at Kenny C. Guinn Junior
High, Southern Nevada Vocational Technical Center,
and Sunset High School. He held administrative
positions at Clark High School, Opportunity School,
and in the planning and zoning departments. In
1995 he earned his doctorate in Educational Administration
and Higher Education from the University of Nevada,
Las Vegas. Currently, Dr. Schofield is teaching
physical science at Helen C. Cannon Middle School.
Jack Lund Schofield’s life is evidence of
a longstanding commitment to education.

Dr. Schofield has been involved in local and state
government. He served as a town board member (1953-1970),
as an assemblyman (1970-1974), and as a state senator
(1974-1978). Always active and athletic, Dr. Schofield
won the Golden Gloves West Welterweight Boxing
Championship in 1941. By the spring of 1942, the
United States was engaged in World War II and so
the national Golden Gloves and the subsequent 1944
Olympics competitions were never held. He has maintained
a lifelong interest in weight lifting, nutrition,
and boxing. Dr. Schofield still enjoys golf, tennis,
and other outdoor activities. He also remains active
in the Civil Air Patrol as a lieutenant colonel
and serves as the Government Affairs Advisory for
the Nevada Wing.
Looking at his personal life, Dr. Schofield married
Alene Earl in 1941. They have long since celebrated
their Golden Anniversary and in 2001 celebrated
their Diamond Jubilee. The Schofields are the proud
parents of six children, and at last count, twenty-nine
grandchildren, and twenty-two great grandchildren.Special
