Our curriculum
is specifically planned for adolescents. Students, ages
10-14, have unique physical, intellectual, social, and
emotional needs. We try to meet these unique needs with
appropriate curricular and co-curricular activities.
At all times, we will stress enhancing your child’s
positive self-concept and confidence in his/her ability
to be academically successful.

When a student between the ages of seven and eighteen
is absent from school without a valid excuse or prior
administrative permission for the absence, the absence
is deemed unapproved or unexcused. In accordance with
state law, unexcused (unapproved) absences may be declared
truancies (NRS 392.130).
If your son/daughter is a habitual truant (3 or more
unexcused absences), the truancies must be reported
to law enforcement by the school and a citation will
be issued by law enforcement. Habitual truancy can result
in fines of $100 or more, community service, and/or
the suspension of the student’s driver license
or future privilege of obtaining one. Students in grades
six through twelve, who have excessive absences and
failing grades, may be retained at their current grade
level. Please contact the school to discuss your child’s
attendance.

Pursuant to Nevada Law AB 376, the Nevada State Board
of Education ruled that students must pass (grades A,
B, C, D) a total of three semesters of math during their
seventh and eighth grade years. In addition, students
must pass a total of three semesters of reading and/or
English during the seventh and eighth grade years. We
encourage you to continue to closely monitor your child's
attendance and performance
at school during the middle school years. Parent and
school invlovement are critical to your child's success.
You are encouraged to discuss any
questions regarding promotion or options available to
help your child meet the requirements for promotion
to the ninth grade. Please contact the Jack Lund Schofield
Middle School counseling department at 799- 2290, extension
228, if you have any questions. Your commitment today
may be the key to your child’s success in the
future.
